THE OPTIMA NETWORK

The Family Resource Center is pleased to announce its newest project: The OPTIMA Network (Organizing Partners To Improve and Maximize Advocacy). Beginning Oct 1, 2008, the Developmental Disabilities Council, Office of the Governor, is providing funding to the FRC in order to develop a comprehensive network of technical assistance and administrative oversight to enhance the influence exerted by Partners in Policymaking (PIP) Graduates in South Carolina.

Under the OPTIMA Network, South Carolina will be divided into four geographic regions. In each region, advocacy efforts will be facilitated by a Regional Network Leader and connected state-wide by the Project Coordinator.

The OPTIMA Network is just getting underway. The project Steering Committee is currently being established and measures are being taken to hire staff. Soon, Regional Network Leaders will be selected from the cadre of PIP Graduates. The OPTIMA Network activities will be managed by a part-time OPTIMA Project Coordinator. Employed at 50% FTE, the Coordinator will work from the fully accessible FRC central office in Charleston. Partners in Policymaking graduates or members of the current PIP class are encouraged to apply. The FRC is an equal opportunity employer and complies with Federal and state guidelines. Regional Network Leaders, who MUST be PIP graduates, will have a contractual relationship with the FRC and will provide up to 25 hours of their time per month in implementation of OPTIMA activities. Regional Leaders will be compensated at the rate of $10 per hour and reimbursed for project-related mileage.
